10th International Pop/Jazz Competition-Festival for Choirs and Duets – Lauluragin 2027

Time, Venue and Organiser

The competition will take place on 6 March 2027 at Valga Cultural Centre (Kesk 1, Valga, Estonia).

The competition is organised by Valga Cultural Centre.

 

Participants

Choirs from Estonia and abroad are welcome to participate in the competition. There is no age limit for singers.

 

Registration

Registration is open from 15 September 2026 to 5 February 2027 on the competition website www.lauluragin.ee/en/registration..

The early registration deadline is 1 January 2027.!

To register, participants must:

• complete the online registration form;

• provide a link to a YouTube video recording.

The video must be either public or set to “Unlisted”.

The 10 choirs selected for the final competition will be announced on the Lauluragin website no later than 10 February 2027..

 

Participation Fee

The participation fee for the final round is:

• for early registration ((registration completed and participation fee paid by 01.01.2027) 100 euros per choir;

for late registration (registration completed after 01.01.2027) 150 euros per choir

The participation fee for late registrations must be paid no later than 15 February 2027.

Materials Required from Finalists

Choirs selected for the final round must submit the following materials no later than 15 February 2027 electronically:

• a short introduction to the choir (CV);

• a photo of the choir in JPG format.

 

Programme

On the day of the competition, each choir will perform a programme of up to 10 minutes, consisting of two songs of contrasting character:

1. a pop or jazz piece by a composer/songwriter from the choir’s home country, performed in the choir’s native language;

2. a pop or jazz piece from the international repertoire.

NB! One of the two pieces may be performed a cappella.

The use of backing tracks/phonograms is not permitted. A piano will be provided by the organiser.

Choirs may also use other acoustic instruments and percussion instruments.

 

Jury and Prizes

The choirs will be evaluated by an international jury.

• 1st Prize – 1000 euros

• 2nd Prize – 500 euros

• 3rd Prize - 300 euros

The jury reserves the right to award additional special prizes.

Lauluragin 2027

 

Time, Venue and Organiser

The competition will take place on 5 March 2027 at Valga Cultural Centre (Kesk 1, Valga, Estonia).

The competition is organised by Valga Cultural Centre.

 

Participants

The competition is divided into two age categories:

*singers aged 15 and under (15 duets will be selected for the final);

*singers aged 16 and over (15 duets will be selected for the final).

The age category of a duet is determined by the age of the older singer. The singers’ ages are calculated as of the day of the competition.

 

Competition Format and Conditions

The competition consists of two rounds.

*Demo Round

The registration deadline for the demo round is 25 January 2027. To participate in the competition

entrants must complete the online registration form available on the competition website www.lauluragin.ee.

All participants must include a live video recording with their application. The recording must be unedited and no more than one year old.

Each duet must perform one song. There are no language restrictions. Performances may be accompanied by a backing track or live instruments.

The duets selected for the final will be announced on the Lauluragin website no later than 5 February 2027.

*Final Round

Participants in the final round will be selected based on their demo-round performances. Up to 15 duets in each age category

will be selected to compete in the final. In the final round, each duet must perform one song of their choice. There are no language restrictions.

At least 50% of the song must be performed in two-part harmony. The recommended maximum duration of the song is 4 minutes.

Detailed information about the festival schedule and organisation will be sent to the finalists no later than 10 February 2027.

 

Jury and Evaluation

The duets will be evaluated by a professional three-member jury.

The jury will assess musicality, interpretation, intonation, stage presence and the suitability of the chosen song for the performers.

In each category, the jury will award six laureate titles and may also award special prizes.

Registration is open from 15 September 2026 to 25 January 2027 on the competition website, www.lauluragin.ee.

To register, participants must complete the online registration form and provide a link to a video recording uploaded to YouTube.

The YouTube video must be either public or set to “Unlisted”.

The participation fee for the final round is 40 euros per duet and must be paid no later than 15 February 2027.
